New Zealand is one of the highest generators of waste per person in the OECD. We produce around 17.49 million tonnes of waste per year and around 12.59 million tonnes goes to landfill. These rates have been increasing over the last few years. 

Reducing waste and keeping materials in circulation for longer can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support a circular economy.
